Although Major League Soccer franchise http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vancouver-Whitecaps-FC-c40870 lost the match to Barclays Premier League powerhouse and reigning FA Cup winners, Manchester City, the Canadians were still applauded for their performance.
The Caps held over 55 percent of the ball possession in a game that saw Eric Hassli and new recruit, Mustapha Jarju, impress the spectators.
The Frenchman Hassli has been with the club since the start of the season but Jarju has merely spent a month with the outfit.
However, despite the fact that the Gambian import is not acquainted with the front line, he created some good moves and was impressive with his runs off the ball.
The Caps might not have capitalized on the chances created on either side of the half-time, but the African national showed off his class nonetheless.
“He was great switching the ball,” goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jay-Nolly-c18103. “When he got on the ball, he didn’t lose it. We missed a few through balls for him, but him and Eric, they’re trying to get on the same page. You can see the qualities in him – he’s got a lot of pace,
he’s good on the ball. I think he’s going to be a huge asset for us.”
The main focus of the interim head coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-c35214 Soehn, was to get Hassli, Camilo and Jarju on the same page and he succeeded in the run of play.
“It was important to get Mustapha a feel for the guys around him,” Soehn told the media post match. “They have to understand that between the three of them, if they can start linking up – Camilo, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eric-Hassli-c12705 and Mustapha – they can be a real handful.”
The Canadian side have been lacking the services of a lanky striker who could ensure goals in the league. With 19 goals in 20 league matches, the team sit at the bottom of the Western Conference and Jarju might be the missing spark to ensure a playoffs berth
for for the rookie team.
