Vancouver girls, vancouver people?

Girls and people in Vancouver?

I am moving to vancouver in less than a year, and was really looking forward to it, as it looks so beautiful. However, someone on the internet who lives there has insisted that the people are unfriendly and the girls are pretentious and guarded, and only like the vancouver drug dealers. Obviously as a guy the girls are going to be a factor in my decision to live somewhere, so don't hate on me for asking this. I thought they were all supposed to be cool, friendly and laid back in Vancouver, so does this guy have a false perception or is he correct?

Thanks, please put me at ease as I have to go there for my career...

I asked this question once already, but only got a few responses. They were good, but one of them was really worrying, about having to "buy a girl three dinners" just to get in the door! What on earth! Are they really that high maintenance, no normal girls about?

Different parts of the city has different attitudes from both males and females. But theyre all gunna have their friendly and sweet people, the a******s, and the alright to be acquaintances with people. You will get that anywhere you go though. This isnt the UK where no one walking done the street will even smile at you.

My wife who is Canadian says that it depends upon the part of the city they are from. Many are high maintainance,or are fitness nuts, Like many city girls you pays yer money and takes yer chance

Vancouver people are mostly friendly, laid back, welcoming and colour-blind.  The natural environment is fantastic and think that rubs off on people's attitude.  That said, three straight weeks of rain in the winter can activate many cases of "seasonal depression disorder" so we have our share of b****s.. yes .  Girls... well thats completely up to you but generally speaking you won't find them to be lay down on request type.   Tend to be self-standing, independant people not prone to fawning ... if they want something they'll go get it themselves.  If your looking for a relationship i doubt you'll have an issue but if looking for an endless series of once and your dones.. you may find it problematic or the type you'll find amiable to that to be not so top of the line.

Hey Jim,

Born and raised here and I can honestly say that we are pretty laid back.I think that anywhere we go these days there is a certain age category that watches to much TV and thinks they are supposed to act snotty or better than others.

If you are a down to earth, fun loving guy, there are a lot of very real, nice people to meet out here! Just don't try to meet any plastics at the CLUBS! You'll be out some serious cash. Sports are pretty big out here so if you can join an outdoor group of some sort,you'll meet good people,some of whom may introduce you to a nice girl! ;o)  It worked for my hubby and I. lol

Yes people can be unfriendly/guarded in Vancouver. It isnt just dating, but making friends in general, where presumably you would meet other people through them. I notice people  to be a little less uptight outside Vancouver, like Surrey, Burnaby etc. But the real problem is there isnt much sense of community or things to do that arent of a controlled tourist nature. I was born here and most people I have known came from outside BC. If you like cultural events and doing things with others, you are restricted to sports. Arts and conversation based activities are lacking. It may be snobbery, or insecurity. Vancouver apparently uses online dating more than any other place besides Toronto, which has a much higher population.

a vancouver girl myself, i believe that most people there are friendly but there are unfriendly people too but a small amount. but there are unfriendly people everywhere.
