Vanes Martirosyan Vs Joe Greene Yuri and Miguel Undercard Preview

While the main event of the night will be Yuri Foreman battling it out with Miguel Cotto; there are other very exciting undercard fights. One of those fight will be between Vanes Martirosyan and Joe Greene. Both Martirosvan and Greene are in a very good knock.

The co-featured bout of the night sees a pair of undefeated junior middleweights take center stage as Vanes Martirosyan (27-0, 17 KOs) squares off against Joe Greene (22-0, 14 KOs). Both fighters are ranked inside the top 10 in some junior welterweight rankings, but it’s Martirosyan who has most of the pre-fight hype.

The Armenian-born, California-raised former U.S. Olympian is widely seen to be in line for a world title shot, perhaps against the winner of the main event. At 6’0” and with a 70” reach, he’s one of the biggest and tallest junior middleweights in the sport, which he utilizes to great effect with a sharp jab that keeps opponents at bay.

But he could be in for a fight against Greene. Not only is he a solid overall fighter, but he is a southpaw, which could present some trouble for Martirosyan. His last opponent was Kassim Ouma in January, and while Martirosyan won the fight, he had trouble dealing with the crafty southpaw veteran. Greene is stronger and more athletic than Ouma was and could be a choice to spring a big upset.
