Vanes Martirosyan hires new manager
After a period of professional idleness, undefeated prospect Vanes Martirosyan has made some managerial changes to put his career back on track.
Boxingscene.com reports that Martirosyan has enlisted Standing Eight Management to perform managerial duties in his future. The company is run by boxing manager Steve Feder, who stated that he extremely
pleased to have been selected for the position.
“We got to know one another first as friends at Wild Card [gym],” Feder said. “Managing his future is a welcome responsibility.”
Martirosyan, who fights in the junior middleweight division, feel that at almost 30 fights he is now ready to step up the competition level and seek a legitimate title.
Feder seconded the thought, saying: “Vanes is ready to step up his level of competition. He is exactly what you want in a fighter. He is fearless, confident and willing to do what it takes to be the best.
We are looking for a fight of substance, the tune ups are behind us."
Martirosyan’s last performance in the ring was a June bout with Joe Greene. He won a unanimous decision. Since then he has challenged a slew of junior middleweight prospects, including Julio Cesar Chavez
Jr. and “Sugar” Shane Mosley, but talk has yet to materialize into something substantial.
Speaking about the new arrangement with Feder, Martirosyan said: “I'm very happy with the signing. I know that he [Feder] can take me to the next level and will get me the fights I need. I can't wait
to start getting ready for my next fight. This will help me focus on my boxing more and leave the business side to Steve.”
As an amateur Martirosyan boasts wins over the likes of current WBO welterweight champion Andre Berto among others.
Martirosyan is promoted by Top Rank. 2011 is expected to be a break-out year for him.
