Ok as for the problem im having, after about a mile of driving it it will just cut out and lose power until it dies. You can turn it over and it wont go. Some times it will start but runs really crappy then dies. I figured it ran out of gas, but it didnt. I took off the filter that screws into the carb and blew it out, put it back and and she fires right back up. You can go about 15 miles or so after this, but then it happens again. Do the same thing and your good to go again. So the things i did were buy a new filter. Didnt work. So i took off the gas lines to the tank and blew them out with air real good. That didnt work either. Someone told me fuel pump, i changed that too and still no fixing it. I dont know what to do next. I'm not sure but i dont think its fuel related anymore. Now im thinking that its getting hot somewhere making it lose power and then die. But what could it be? Ignition module? Rotor, cap? It acts as if there is some sort of vapor lock in the carb or something?

  1. I'd really like to help you but we need the year make and model of the car! All these items are important because of the parts involved.

Just edit your original question with this information.

  2. Check the needle and seat in the carb, if it is sticking and not allowing any fuel in the carb it will stall, when it dies, can you spray some starting fluid or carb cleaner into the throttle body area to get it started, another trick is to rap on the carb near the seat area, sometimes it will unstick it's self and start flowing again.

  3. there is a "filter"/strainer in the tank that could be clogging due to someone dumping something in it.the fact that you take the main filter off and blow it out is coincidence.when you removed it,that allows some backflow of fuel in the lines clearing the strainer thus allowing fuel flow until it becomes reclogged.

  4. Some carbuerators have a screen filter where the fuel line is bolted to the carb.  Did you replace that one too?

  5. when blowing out the fuel lines, did you happen to notice that there may be another fuel filter , in the line, closer to the fuel tank. look hard, they are not in easy places.good luck.
