Varadero, Cuba?

Travelling to Varadero, Cuba in March for a week & Staying at the Barcelo Solymar. Would like to know recommended things to do and see, tours to take, etc?

Also money exchange, is it best to use cuban pesos and if so can you get them from a canadian bank before you go?
