The French centre-back believes that even though it was hard for Los Blancos to cope up with the injuries, they were still able to perform really well with the back four which Mourinho chose for the night.
During the international break, the team which suffered the most in terms of injuries was the Spanish side, Real Madrid.
The Spanish champions had to continue their La Liga season over the weekend without the services of their first-choice full-backs.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554 were all injured and right before the game, Varane was declared fit or even he would not have been a part of the starting line-up.
Real Madrid faced Celta Vigo over the weekend and even though they did not have a first-choice defence, they were still able to keep a clean sheet and won the game 2-0.
Raphael Varane stepped up to tell the press that he is extremely impressed by the way Real Madrid’s make-shift defence has worked.
Varane played in the centre-back position and it was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Ramos-c33096 who took back the responsibilities of being a right-back.
The on-loan player, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Essien-c25294, played as a make-shift left-back and even he was impressive over the night.
Raphael Varane spoke about how he is impressed by the way Real Madrid stepped up to the challenge of Celta Vigo, who look to be a side who play on counter-attack in order to exploit the defence.
While speaking about Real Madrid’s defence against Celta Vigo and their 2-0 victory, Varane said:
“I have confidence, I feel good physically and I think that we played well.”
“I think we have done well because we conceded no goals. We are happy. We played against a team that was playing on the counter-attack and that was compact in defence.”
“It was hard getting ourselves going after the international break, but I think we played well. We have to win [in midweek at Borussia Dortmund] in order to continue the positive momentum of the team.”
Real Madrid are now going to turn their focus to the UEFA Champions League where they will be facing the German champions, Borussia Dortmund.
With the Spanish and German champions facing each other over the weekend, anything can be expected from this encounter.
