Varga hails Anzhi’s 15 million Euro signing Denisov from Zenit St. Petersburg – Football News
Well known sports agent, Sandor Varga, has heaped praise on Anzhi Makhachkala after the Russian Premier League club managed to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Igor-Denisov-c16694 from Zenit St. Petersburg in a cut-price 15 million Euro deal.
“I think Anzhi did a fantastic piece of business to sign Denisov. I think Denisov is worth every penny if we look at other signings at the club including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786
or Juventus but he decided to join Anzhi after sacrificing Champions League football. I think Denisov’s departure will be a big loss for Zenit but he had to leave after his conflict with the manager. I think he made a right decision knowing that Anzhi is developing
as a force every year,” Varga was quoted as saying.
Denisov signed a four-year contract with the Wild-division after both the clubs agreed on the transfer of the pass master for reportedly 15 million Euros, a fee that seems a bargain for such a classy player.
The Hungarian national credited Denisov for making such a vital step in his career to join an ambitious outfit after leaving an already established team. Varga hailed the player’s character to choose Anzhi despite their failure
to secure UEFA Champions League berth.
Vargas went on to tell that Denisov is not the only one to sacrifice Champions League football and gave example of Willian, who joined the Makhachkala-based club from Shakhtar Donetsk for a reported 35 million Euro transfer fee
earlier this year.
Anzhi missed out a chance to qualify for the Champions League after finishing third on the league table with 53 points. They remained nine points short of the second-spot, needed to play in the European tournament.
However, the Dagestani club have succeeded in qualifying for the Europa League next season. The Makhachkala-based club were knocked out by Newcastle United in the round-of-16 of the European tournament last time around.
The fact that Zenit already signed Anatoliy Tymoschuk as a potential replacement for Denisov makes Varga credit Spalletti for acting intelligent in the transfer market.
