Variables and Expressions Question, in 8th grade math.?

So example... 7b - 9 for b=9. I don't need the answer. The part where it says 7b is called coefficient, b is also a variable in this one 8 + b(<variable) for b=7. But when 7b is together it is coefficient, but would I also label the b as a variable even when they are together?plz help

  1. in the problem the 7b is the coefficient... the b is a variable. thats all there is to it...now if you were asked... what is the variable in that problem you would put b....if it asked for the coefficient...put 7b
