I was a varsity outside and rightside hitter in high school. And played 3 years for club teams. I stopped playing after my senior year in high school, and i now want to try out for my sophonmore year in collee. What 2 person hitter drills can i do, and conditioning to get ready for the season.

  1. More important then conditioning and drills is to talk to the coach at your university. Tell them you'd like to walk on to the team, and want to know what they'd like to see. If they say they're looking for a front row outside to put the ball away, try doing squats in the weight room, along with plyometrics a couple days a week. True jumping comes from that explosive stregnth. An increased Vert is necessary for college outsides. Also work on placement, you want to hit the deep corners 9/10 times.  If the coach is looking for a backrow player, focus on your passing, not your hitting.

And regardless of position make sure you have a tough tough serve.

  2. What Pat said. Work your legs, ENERYDAY!

  3. I would say you need to go out and play some pickup games. You will remind yourself what your forgot after couple of games.

  4. You should really condition and practice your approach.  I play college volleyball and know what to do to get on the team.  Get in the gym and work you legs.
