  1. You always have to have a great attitude, and probably want to practice anytime you can. You have to be open for change, because you don't know what they want. My varsity coach wanted girls with lots of talent, but needed to be very confident.

    Good Luck!

  2. Well, I was basically a bench warmer for my high school years haha, but I do have some advice from the experience of my younger sister. As a frosh, she played mostly on jay-v(this is basketball by the way), but toward the end of the year she started to get a few minutes on varisty.  The following year she was in the same boat you are. She really wanted to start on the varsity team.  Athletic ability is probably going to be the biggest deciding factor in choosing the starters, but also it depends on how well you fit in the starters.  Another big factor is going to be drive/determination.  Use your summer as the time to get better, working out everyday, and working on drills alone or with teammates.  Just an example, my sis was up everyday at 5:30, did an hour workout then, and an hour workout in the afternoon.  Not only will this help you get better athletically, but also show to your coach and the team you have what it takes to start for the team.  And remember not to get your head down, even if you aren't picked as a starter right away, my sister didn't start until about half way through the year, and eventually started in the state championship game.  So just keep working at it, and don't get discouraged.  good luck.

  3. You have to be able to keep up with the fast pace to make varsity.

Have a good attitude, and be a good teammate.

You have to have skill.  There isn't really a set formula to make the team.  If you deserve it and you HAVE the talent, you'll make it.

    Good luck!
