Following a stress reaction on the back, he has been ruled out of the crucial trip, and now he would only watch his colleagues play against the Kangaroos on television.
He made his Test debut during the recent home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, before his couple of One Day Internationals (ODIs) appearances against the tourists at Cuttack and Visakhapatnam.
The trip to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 would have been a mega chance for Varun to make an impression; however, a cruel twist of fate has snatched the big opportunity from the young lad.
And he lamented over missing the tour Down Under, saying that he had been playing cricket despite the injury, but the medical staff has now advised him complete rest.
“I have got a stress reaction in my back and that's why I won't be a part of the Test squad. I have sustained this injury during the ODI series and I have now been advised complete rehabilitation. I will now undergo complete rehabilitation at the National
Cricket Academy in my bid to get completely fit. I don't know yet about what will be the duration of my rehabilitation but I believe it's nothing very serious," the dejected quick bowler told PTI.
India’s battle with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 and company will get underway with the opening Test at Melbourne, set to be held from December 26 to December 30, 2011.
After a high-voltage four-match Test competition, the Men in Blue are scheduled to play a triangular ODI series in Australia, and Varun is hopeful of regaining his hundred percent fitness ahead of the one-dayers.
"I will definitely try to get fit by then. Obviously, it is disappointing as I was looking forward to this tour," the 22-year-old added.
Varun’s omission has provided the golden opportunity to another young pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Vinay-Kumar-c2237 who was earlier ignored for the important clash. Vinay has represented Team India in 15 ODIs so far, but is yet to find his feet in the longest version of the sport.
