"Benfica came and made concrete proposal to Vasco da Gama. I thought it was time [to leave] and it was a good proposal, for which I am thankful. But Vasco da Gama has my backing to stay, and it now depends on them,” he said.
The sweeper also said that he was happy at the club and was only hoping that he lands a berth in the Brazilian National team.
