Vaseline for rats with mites?

Does vaseline work or is it dangerous? I'm wondering if I should use vaseline or olive oil. When you put vaseline on the rat's skin, do the rats l**k it off?

The best thing for mites is antibiotics, has your rat been to the vet? I know they can be expensive.

vaseline will not harm your rats and they may l**k it off but it won't cause any great problem in small quantities. The same goes for olive oil exept they'd be more likely to l**k it off.

Personally i would take them to the vets! ;) that would be best...

you should take them to the vet before you try any home remedies. The vet will give your rat a shot or shampoo to get rid of the mites, and you should bleach the cage and all the toys. I had a rat that got mites so i know from first hand experience.
