CSKA Moscow defender, Vasili Berezutski, who managed to score a last gasp winner in the 2-1 UEFA Champions League group stage match win against Inter Milan at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, has revealed his satisfaction on CSKA progressing
to the knock-out stage of the tournament.
The Russian stopper has been consistent for the Moscow-based club, making 31 league appearances and featuring in all group stage matches. It was his first European goal this season - though, he had scored an own goal in the home
match against LOSC Lille.
After a quite first half, CSKA managed to break the dead lock by scoring the opening goal of the match which was quickly cancelled out on the other end by the Nerazzurri and it looked like both the teams would settle for a point.
But the visiting team knew that a draw would take them nowhere in Europe: they had to find the net again and ultimately came up with a late goal.
Berezutski revealed that he is delighted to score one of the most important goals of his career and is looking forward to similar performances during the next round.
The fact that the Armeytsy managed to defeat the Italian giants, who eliminated them from the Champions League quarter-finals two year ago, pleases the former Torpedo-ZIL defender, who said:
“This is a big win and we will celebrate it all night long.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Trabzonspor-c40759, hit the cross bar during the second period of the match. Berezutski admitted that it was the nerviest moment of the match
and the match could have gone the opponent’s way, when the score was 1-1.
“We were lucky enough that Milito hit the crossbar and the ball did not get into the goal.  We were also fortunate that the match between Lille and Trabzonspor end up in a draw. Now we can go proudly on our vacations.” Berezutski
concluded.
The knock-out stages will be played during the second week of February 2012, and Berezutski revealed that they have enough time for preparations.
