I'm going to Rome, Italy for the first time in April. It'll be Easter then and I was wondering how are the Easter celebration there? Is there an open mass at the Vatican on Easter sunday? And what time is it?

  2. Yes. There will be the "Urbi et Orbi" blessing from the Pope and a special open Easter Mass. I'm not sure about the time, but should be around 11 or 12 am.

Be prepared because the place will be packed!

  3. If you come in Rome. Will you meet me?In Easter we use to eat enormous eggs of chocolate,Inside there are presents. We use to go in the church in the morning and for lunch eat lamb. The day after called pasquetta we go in countryside for picnics. The weather could be wet and sometimes cold,so bring an umbrella.

  4. I run a Vatican touring company.  No, not open, although you can see it from a distance at the edge of St. Peter's square. There is a mass conducted personally by the Pope, at 10am.  Tickets required. He also conducts his weekly audiences on Wednesday at 10:30am.

St. Peter's does have open masses during the week, dozens a day, but not when the pope himself officiates. Access is closed off and only ticket holders can get close.
