Question:

Vauxhall Astra 1.8VVT Engine - accelerator holds rev?

i have recently bought a brand new Astra 1.8 SRI XP. It has the 1.8VVT engine with 140bhp.

I find it very hard to make regular smooth gear changes as the accelerator seems to hold the rev for a slight second once you lift your foot - this delay changes and is sometimes longer than others, but never more than about 1.5 secs.

Is this just a peculiarity of this engine or is it something i should go back to the dealer with?

  1. more that likly it's the automatic choke. as its a new car take it back to the dealer and get the idle set again.

  2. it should not be holding it that long.  have it looked at.  also, make sure that it is 1.5 seconds.  many times when we are trying to do things in a car at speeds a split second seems longer than it really is...

  3. i would check to make sure nothing is obstructing the accelerator cable could it be piched or have a small defect in the line somehwere ?
