Vauxhall omega 1996 2.0 auto stalling problem.?

Question

i've just bought an omega 2.0 auto (P) reg , the problem is the car wont stay running at idle when i take my foot off the accelerator and there is a small amount of black smoke from the exhaust , also the car is very slow to pull away but I'm not sure if that has something to do with the idling problem or a gearbox prob but once the car gets going it runs and drives perfect , Any ideas would be appreciated.

Probably the idle valve needs cleaning ( or replacing )

Take it of clean it with some carburetor cleaner and refit it.
