Vauxhall omega brakes?

Question

how do i change rear brake discs on vauxhall omega 2.0 petrol ecotec 1999 ?? i got to discs but could not work out how they came out

assuming you have removed the calipers they are usually secured by 5 or 6 bolts but not being familiar with Vauxhalls my advice is to  nip down to Halfords and buy a Haynes Manual - it will have paid for itself by the time you've finished the job

You know you should not be doing this on your own.  Without wishing to be rude, if you can't work out how to do it and you have not been into Halfords to have a look at the manual, then you should either have someone else do it or get a knowledgable friend to take you through the job.  If you do this wrong, and the brakes bind on you will be a bit irritated.  If you do it wrong and they fail, you may not be in a position to be irritated about anything.

Is the handbrake inside the disc or on the caliper???

remove the caliper and any screws fixing disc to the hub.

If its in the discs it will be easier to de-adjust the handbrake shoes, u need a torch to look through wheel bolt hole to find the big cog which is the adjuster (either at top or bottom), usin a screwdriver move the cog a few turns till disc can be moved freely then tap off.

Fit new disc and adjust shoes till disc wont move then slacken off a couple of teeth, make sure the disc spins freely. Refit the caliper with new pads, pump brake pedal to square up the pads and work the handbrake a few times and check that the disc still spins ok if not adjust or slacken off should have 4 or 5 clicks when slowly pulling h/brake on

remove wheel,when you look at calliper,there are nuts on rear,remove,then knock disc off, repeat process to put back together,its really self exploratory? hope this helps

a manual is needed....for the simple fact that as well as pads there are shoes under the disk for the handbrake mech...
