Vcr help my dvd wont play?

i am trying to put my dvd into my vcr and its not working. i pressed play but nothing happened. my dvds scratched up now. why is it not working thanks.

  1. I tend to think this question is a joke, but if not I'll answer it the simplest way I can.  VCR plays a tape, DVD plays a disc and you will never get a DVD disc to play in a VCR.  Ever!!!!
