i got a vcr what ever u want to call it it has dvd player and cassette now i have a hd digital cable box that i watch tv on.., how do i record it .it wont rec on that channel im watching it on i connected the component cables and also antenna soo idk help peopple

  1. VCRs were pretty much outdated by the time DTV came along.  My guess is that this is an analog device and therefore can not work with digital signals.

    If you want to record DTV, you will probably need to get a DVD recorder (make sure it handles digital inputs) or a DVR.


  2. What you will need is one set of composite video cables and one set of audio cables with cinch (RCA) plugs.

    Connect one end of the cables, matching the colors of the plugs and sockets to one set of outputs on the rear of the cable box.

    Then, with the other end, connect, matching the colors of the plugs and sockets, to the LINE IN on the rear of the VCR/DVD combo.

    Then, on the VCR, switch to the LINE IN mode, usually using the channel buttons and going below channel 2.

    There may be differences in the details, but this is the gist of it.  For more details, you may want to consult the manuals of both the VCR/DVD combo and the cable box.
