Sergei Vedeneyev believes that Witsel still needs to prove a lot in the Russian Premier League and has commented on CSKA Moscow’s win against Spartak Moscow
Sergei Vedeneyev is of the belief that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Axel-Witsel-c7029 despite the Belgian International’s impressive performance in Zenit St. Petersburg’s 2-0 win against FC Krasnodar at Kuban Stadium
on Sunday.
Witsel is often being compared with the Russian Premier League’s club captain, Denisov, because of their possession play and movement in the middle of the park. Both midfielders can play as a winger if needed.
The Russian national football team’s head coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello, has used Denisov on the flanks during the Euro 2008 semi-finalists friendly matches ahead of the qualifying round of the 2014 World Cup.
Witsel, meanwhile, has proven himself as a goal-scoring midfielder during his stay with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SL-Benfica-c40542. The Belgian International, who joined Zenit this summer for a reported 40 million Euros fee, had scored 50 goals during his seven-year
playing career in Belgium and Portugal.
Vedeneyev has showered praise on Witsel, saying that the 23-year-old player contributed in Zenit’s 2-0 win against FC Krasnodar on large scale. However, the Russian football analyst insisted that Witsel still needs time to understand
the Russian championship.
"In a match with Krasnodar, Witsel replaced Denisov. He had a good match. The Belgian helped http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Viktor-Fayzulin-c36130 despite being a new comer to the team. I think he will slowly learn about the domestic league here.”
“Of course, he is not above Denisov. He is not as sharp as the team captain and do not put a lot of amount of work as compared to the Russian midfielder.” The 55-year-old was quoted as saying.
Commenting on CSKA Moscow’s 2-0 win against Spartak Moscow at Luzhniki stadium, Vedeneyev revealed that the Spartachi need to blame themselves for the latest defeat against the Moscow-based club after they put in a below par performance
at home.
The Russian national went on to urge the Red-whites to alter the situation if they are to claim a decent spot on the league table at the end of the ongoing season.
