  1. Chicago Diner and Earwax are good, but if Alice and Friends is the best.  It's on Broadway in the Edgewater or Andersonville neighborhood, and has the most delicious fake meat I've ever tasted.  There's also Veggie Bite, a vegan fast food restaurant.  There is one in Wicker Park by the Jewel Osco, and one in Beverly.

  2. I just had brunch here and it was the best vegan food ever.

  3. Heartland Cafe - it used to be a dive, now it's beautiful, fresh and clean. And it's also no longer 100% vegetarian. But their menu still has that "hippie" feeling, and they will adjust anything on the menu to vegan. It's at the Lunt el stop in rogers park at Lunt & Greenview.

  4. Chicago has so many!  VegDining.com lists at least 70.  Here's the link:

    I'd recommend Lake Side Cafe.

    Good luck!

  5. I agree with Stella, Chicago Diner all the way, the food is very creative.  The atmosphere is casual with a funky artsy vibe.

Green Zebra is hip and upscale: http://www.greenzebrachicago.com/philoso...

Other fantastic vegan/vegetarian options include A Natural Harvest, Alice & Friends Vegetarian Cafe and The Balanced Kitchen. You can find other options, as well as addresses and more info, at this link (Metromix): http://chicago.metromix.com/facets/resta...
