  1. This is my favorite Vegan Dessert. It is rich, creamy and you will not miss dairy at all.

  3. Hello,

There are a load of vegan alternatives out there, thankfully!  Even chocolate spread, biscuits, mayo (Mayola garlic mayo is ace), sos rolls - everything really!!

Redwoods and Frys are the best for the vegan sausages/burgers etc (quorn etc contain egg).

For cheese, I like the spreads best (garlic and herb cheese style spread - honestly tastes exactly like the philadelphia version).  Redwoods melting style cheezly is good for pizzas/cheezly garlic bread or cheese on toast style stuff.

It can be a bit confusing at first, so just check labels a lot - some salt and vinegar crisps have lactose for example.

Other ingredients to avoid are whey, lanolin, casein... can't remember the full lkist, but see the vegan society website for a full list (i'll put a link)

With "making the change" it's up to you how you do it.  I've heard that if you do it slowly, it is more dificult, so i stopped completely - making sure I had a tonne of recipes and vegan food in to make life easier.  But a friend of mine has just been changing one thing at a time - spending a while finding the right soy milk, then cutting out eggs and experinemting with the best egg substitute for baking etc (can get in powder form from health food shops) and now she's fiunding her fav "cheeses". Totally up to you.

With suppliments, I don't take any as I make sure I'm getting all my vitamins (the vegan society do a wall chart which has all the vitamins you need and where you can get it in a plant based diet) but an all round multivitamin will be fine.  I recommend the chart though.

Good luck - the best thing to do really is just make sure you've got a tonne of good stuff in and it'll go fine.

  5. For dairy, there's soy milk, rice milk, nut milk, oat milk, and hemp milk--find the one that works for you.  There's also soy ice cream (Soy Delicious Purely Decadent!) and rice ice cream.  Sorbets are typically vegan; sherbets are not.  Tofutti makes soy sour cream and soy cream cheese.  They are geared toward the lactose intolerant, but a number of their items are accidentally vegan.

To replace eggs, it depends on what the eggs are for.  If you like them scrambled or in an omelet, you can do a tasty tofu scramble.  For baking, there are numerous ways to replace eggs, many of which will be found in any vegan cookbook.  I personally prefer to use Ener-G Egg Replacer, although a flax seed slurry is also good.

Instead of honey, you can use agave nectar--it's a bit thinner than honey, but just as sweet.

Many vegan online retailers sell vitamins.  I say it can't hurt to take a supplement just in case.

And how you transition is up to you.

  6. I LOVE being a vegan and don't regret it at all. The main two questions you have to ask yourself are "Are you a picky eater?" and "Do you have a tremendous amount of will power?" If you're open to anything, turning vegan is for you. My favorite things are Morning Star fake meat products, Zen Soy chocolate milk, and dairy free chocolate chips. I also recommend rice milk; it may sound disgusting, but hazelnut flavored is the best. Although it is kind of high in calories, I say Toffuti is the best brand for ice cream. When my cravings are abnormally high, it usually helps. Even though I am a teenager, I take Womans 1 a Day. That helps a lot. Good luck and just be careful; I've heard some tragic stories of malnutrition. Remember eat a lot of nuts and vegetables. You'll be happier in the long run!
