  1. I don't think there is much so i would take something from home. They (the movie theatre) would have to be pretty lousy not to let you bring your own food. explain to them you are a Vegan and none of their overpriced junk suits you.

  2. sneak in some vodka and 7up in a thermos bottle.. not only won't you need any snacks, the movie will seem better too.. I was able to "watch" s*x in the City after  drinking half the thermos

of course only if you are of legal age..

    Otherwise, bring your own food..

  3. I always bring my own snacks at the movies. I sneak in some bottled water and whatever I seem to fancy that day.

At the theatres around here (in Ohio), they do offer a fruit bowl and vegetable snacks (like carrot and celery sticks). Those are vegan.

My theatre also sells soft pretzels...those *might* be vegan. I would have to ask.

It's frustrating, isn't it?! Good luck!

  4. Carry a big purse and sneak in some of your own food.  I've even brought drinks in a Chico bag--nobody looks inside your bags, so you can get away with a lot.

  5. Swedish fish are.

I always sneak my own food in.  It's cheaper and I can bring what I want.

    You can bring:

    dark chocolate

    dried fruit

    air popped popcorn

    vegan candy

even a some homemade vegan fudge

  6. Twizzlers

  7. Bring your own snacks, they're a lot cheaper and you know what your eating.

  8. I carry just a medium size purse and I can fit a bottled water and snacks in Ziploc bags- nuts, popcorn, trail mix, granola, vegan chocolate.  I like Lara Bars too.  Are you sure about the Sour Patch?  Interesting.

  9. potato chips :)

  10. Sunflower: I've contacted some major sugar companies in the U.S. who all told me that processing white cane sugar w/ bone char is an old fashioned method that is no longer used. Did they lie? I've been eating it for years thinking it was vegan!

  11. ^ That's debatable because it's the same as your food being processed in a plant that also processes products with animal ingredients. Yes, you are adding to the amount of bone char they will buy by buying their products with sugar, but the bone char won't actually be present in the sugar and you'll be increasing the profits of a business that doesn't have any animal ingredients in the products (therefore you increase the vegan industry). It's a give and take situation, just like any ethical issue that is effected by capitalism (the exploitation of womyn through p**n, slave labor, etc).

By the way, this was aimed at "sunflowers" answer.

  12. I agree with all the "sneak your foods in" answers so far. I like grapes, sliced apple, banana, dried fruits, small carrot sticks, pretzels, chocolate, Swedish Fish, red licorice, etc.

I don't feel the need to 'sneak' the food though. Most movie theater workers don't really care what you bring in as long as you don't make a mess. The occasional manager or owner who tries to tell me I can't bring my snacks in gets a public verbal stomping in front of all their customers for not providing cruelty free and healthy snacks for their patrons. I've never really had to take those arguments very far though since the managers are either quick to see my point or they desire to have me quieted down more than they desire to enforce their rules.

  13. Hide some food in a big purse

White cane sugar is filtered through animal bone char, so really it is not vegetarian, much less vegan...technically.

Alison- I don't know that you can count on manufacturers of products telling you the truth about ingredients or processes of manufacture, etc. They say white sugar made from beets doesn't use bone char.

As for someone saying that bone char is not actually "in" the sugar, I would say that it might be like putting a raw carrot in beef stew and taking it out and washing it off...is that really vegetarian? And yes, they do have to BUY the bone char to filter the cane sugar when they use it.
