Question:

Vegan facial products?

i've been using proactiv for at least five years now, and i've really grown to hate it. at first it took care of my blemishes, but now my skin seems too used to it and way too dependent on it. i still get a blemish here and there on a regular basis, yet when i don't use proactive for even only one day, my skin freaks out and i majorly break out. i'm vegan and so i am sticking with products that are cruelty-free and animal-free like proactiv, but i'd also prefer ingredients that i can understand - meaning no parabens, etc., which would be a nice change for my face. i doubt using benzoyl peroxide every single day for half of a decade has been good on my skin, and i'm thinking it's time i finally refrain from it.

so, what facial products would you recommend? and has anyone else had this dependence issue with proactiv? i would say that i have blemish-prone combination skin, if that makes any difference at all.

  1. Your skin may not be dependent on Proactiv but just washing it frequently.  When you wash it more frequently it will become more oily so that the skin won't dry out too much.  When you went for one day without using Proactiv, you probably got too much oil buildup.

A good vegan cleanser would probably work for you.  Look for Nature's Gate, JASON, LUSH cosmetics, Kiss My Face, etc.  For a toner you could use regular witch hazel found at a pharmacy or drug store and for a facial moisturizer, go with on of the ones below.

  2. Kiss My Face and Veganstore.com have vegan facial products. If you try any out I hope you find a good one!
