Question:

Vegan group snack ideas?

by  |  earlier

I go to a social group and I'm the only vegan. Its a group for teen girls. Every week theres a snack. Its never planned. They don't care if I'm vegan they just bring whatever and ask if its vegan. But I can't bring a snack just for me because what if A.They have cake and they talk about how good the cake is and ect. Or B.I bring a vegan cake slice and they have chips. They would be eyeing my cake the whole time. I've been bringing snack for the group for so long I'm running out of ideas. Any fun and easy baking ideas for snack or something fun? I don't want to bring raw veggies and turn them off to veganism.

  3. Chocolate chip cookies are delicious and appreciated by almost everyone. This recipe is my favorite; I've used it so many times and they always come out good. My mom tried them once and said she didn't know vegan food could taste so good!

("21/4cups unbleached all-purpose flour" should be 2 and 1/4 cups)

I use the Whole Foods brand of vegan chocolate chips. They come in a green bag and say "vegan". For the butter, I use Earth Balance.

    Hope this helps!

  4. How about a Cilantro, Lime and Jalapeno Aioli with chips? Even if they are not vegan they will not know the difference.

    1 lb.       Medium firm tofu

1/4 C.    Olive or Canola Oil

    1 1/2 C. Cilantro, chopped coarsely

2 med.   Jalapenos, slightly blackened and coarsely chopped

    1 Tbs.    Onion, chopped coarsely

    1 Clove Garlic, chopped coarsely

    2 Tsp.    Lemon juice

    Juice of one whole Lime

    kosher salt to taste

    1.  Crumble the tofu into food processor.  Add remaining  ingredients except for the oil.  Process for 15-20 seconds.

    2.  Add the oil in a steady stream until it is incorporated and at desired smoothness.

This is excellent with chips or on crostini with fresh jalapeno wheels, or with sliced red bell peppers.
