Question:

Vegan headaches?

I'm 15 and I've been a vegetarian for about 2 and 1/2 years. This week I decided to go vegan. It's been two days and I've had a nonstop headache. Do you think it's related? I eat plenty of protein through beans, rice milk, high-protein cereal... I eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, and grains.

What can I do/ are they related?

  1. I'm sorry you're having this experience. Animals Are Cool is right, you should ensure a reliable source of vitamin B12 by either eating fortified foods or taking a supplement. Silk soymilk is a good option; most flavors have 50% daily values of B12 in one cup.

You might not be getting as many calories as you think. Check out this vegan meal planning chart to see the vegan food groups & how much food you should be eating:

Also, see this site for good vegan sources of protein, iron, and calcium: http://www.tryveg.com/cfi/toc/?v=08sourc...

    I hope this helps!

  2. If you are eating raw vegetable, get the fresh one,

    and wash it throughly.

Because if the vegetable is not fresh, it might be contaminated with micro organisme. If you eat it, the micro organisme will enter your body and causes fewer and headaches.

Or try to stop eatting raw vegetable and fruits, eat only cooked food and vegetable.

  3. Sweetie, what new foods have you been eating. The headaches could be an alergic reaction to something you haven't had before. If they keep up call your doctor.

  4. Headaches are caused by multiple things, so it's hard to say.  Could be a new perfume you bought, could be a food, could be stress, .... you just have to examine all of the possibilities

B12 has nothing to do with your headaches as someone suggested.

PS Humans are not omnivores either.  Very different indeed.

  5. Have you been getting enough vitamin b-12? If not, that might be the cause of the headaches. Some good vegan sources of it are getting injections of b-12, b-12 tablets, or Naked Juice.

  6. Your  protein  sources  are  Not  the  natural  complete  ones .

Like it   or  not ,  humans  are  carnivorous ( although  some  cultures  eat  too  much beef )

You   will  know  if  you eat  normally  and  the  headaches  stop .

If   you  eat  normal and  they  don't  then  it  was  just  a  coincidence .
