  1. I'm not a vegan but to become one you have to be dedicated in your beliefs. Without that dedication you won't succeed.

Any vegetable diet will help you to lose weight, but only if you are overweight. I eat a mainly vegetarian diet. Since doing so I've helped stabilize my weight. I lost 2 stones last year and my diet now has helped me to control that weight. I still eat a little white meat, but I have fish three times a week.

BTW, I live in a hot country so today for lunch I'm having Vichyssois (very similar to leek & potato soup) which is delicious chilled. I usually have gazpacho for lunch which is a tomato, pepper & onion based soup best served chilled as well.

  2. being vegan has many benefits

    a) the environment - the animal industry uses a great amount of water, and in our drought we need to save it all we can

    b) animals' suffering - being vegetarian saves lives, but the dairy industry and egg industry involve the killing and torture of many animals

    c) health benefits - meat takes hours to digest so you will need to eat more often, but you will not gain weight. as long as you are eating enough and are not hungry you shouldn't loose an unhealthy amount of weight, just become really healthy. Being vegan includes foods that are easier to digest so your body isn't under so much stress and you eat more veges so you get those important vitamins that we all lack.

There are soooo many more benefits. look at http://www.peta2.com/ to check them all out

  3. Actually, vegans are not under any "restrictions". That word implies there are necessities that vegans miss out on and that is not true.

It seems that some do lose weight because they start to pay more attention to what they eat and that can lead to healthier, low fat diet. However, it is not really all that different from a well balanced omni diet.

As with anything ,balance is the key.

You can lose weight by burning more than what you eat.

  4. Well I just feel generally healthier and more energetic =]

No I didnt loose any weight.

hope this helps a little =]

  5. Do you believe when you pick fruit or vegitables you are hurting the plants feelings, well vegans do and they have many more crazy thoughts and laws so if you want to make up your own personal opinion about what you eat don't get in the vegan cult.

  6. You don't want to lose weight by restricting your diet. That is the best way to gain weight back afterwards.

The benefit is that you don't contribute to any of this.

If you want to lose weight, you need eat plenty of healthy food and exercise to increase daily caloric output.

Bread, pasta, cereal, rice, beans, peas, lentils, nuts, seeds, fruits and veggies can easily offer everything that you need except B12.

All vegetarians should take a B12 supplement regularly since most people eat meat, dairy AND fortified cereals yet still have a B12 status that is lower than recommended.

It may help you if you see proof that vegetarians have the same potential as anyone else.
