  1. yay!! i'm the same way. u can also eat bread and pasta. along with soups. go to a health food store, there are endless possibilities!

  2. Looks like nothing else. ANything that came from an animal such as dairy products are forbidden. You cannot wear leather or anything clothing that are made from animal hide. It's going to be tough and very expensive to eat organic all the time too. But good for you, it's tough really. I'm in the process of becoming a vegetarian too but I'm finding it harder than expected.

  3. this is a great site:

  4. You need to take foods fortified with B12 or B12 supplements.

  5. There's actually plenty you can eat! All that will change is you will no longer use eggs (there are alternatives for recipes etc), you use non dairy versions of things such as milk and yoghurt or cheese (all easily available even in the supermarket these days), don't use honey (give agave nectar a try instead), and have to check ingredients labels more carefully for minor ingredients. Other foods are all still available to you, from bread and pasta to baked beans and crisps! You even get vegan chocolate. Though you might not want to make that the mainstay of a healthy diet. ;-)

I'd recommend maybe getting copies of one or both of 2 books: The Animal Free Shopper - this allows you to know which products are vegan without scouring labels and The A-z of Animal Ingredients- to clue up on what to look for and the alternative names they give things. Makes life easier.

But these days between stores catching on, the amount of allergy products made dairy and egg free and the online specialist stores stocking everything from vegan foods to leather free shoes it is really not that difficult!

  6. It's great that you want to go vegan! Vegans can also eat:

-Faux meats that don't contain eggs or dairy.

-Non-dairy products. There are vegan versions of milk, cheese, butter, ice cream, mayo, cream cheese, whipped cream...

    -Beans, seeds, and grains

    My favorite vegan foods:

-Quesadillas and grilled cheese made with Follow Your Heart soy cheese

-Sub with Vegenaise vegan mayo and Tofurky Deli Slices

-Cookies and pie made with soy milk and EnerG Egg Replacer

-Bean or grilled veggie burrito with Tofutti vegan sour cream

-Fried "chicken" made with Morningstar Farms Meal Starters Chik'n Strips (here's the recipe: http://www.vegcooking.com/recipeshow.asp... )

    Good luck!

  7. there are plenty of things to eat including breads, pastas, faux meats and soy products.  be sure to educate yourself on certain ingredients in foods that are derived from animals and animal ingredients. [certain vitamins can be from animal or plant origin] and also foods processed with animal ingredients [some white sugar and flour is bleached with bone char]

good luck and thanks for making a difference!
