Question:

Vegan marshmallows?

I'm having a party and we're going to have a campfire, and make s'mores, but one of my friends is vegan, and I know that she doesn't eat marshmalows.

Is there something like marshmallows without gelatin in them?

  1. Unless you have a vegan grocery or a store that carries a lot of vegan specialty foods, you're going to have to order them online.  Sweet & Sara are really good and pretty widely available (you *might* even find them at Whole Foods.)

There is also a company called Angel Food out of New Zealand that makes vegan marshmallow kits so that you can make them at home (if you're inclined, this might be a better option because the premade ones have to be refrigerated, meaning that shipping options are somewhat limited.)

  2. I wondered the same thing.  There are gelatin substitutes but I havent seen any marshamllows without gelatin.

  3. YUP!

you have to order them online though.

  4. check with a health food store....I believe you can substitute Agar for the gelatin but I don't know how to do it

  5. Here are some places that sell them:

Whole Foods -They sell Ricemellow Creme, which is like Marshmallow creme. It works great in s'mores.
