  1. Here are some web sites with some great vegan/vegetarian food.

http://silksoymilk.com -chocolate and chai flavors are good

    http://amys.com

    http://organicfoodbar.com

    http://gardenburger.com

    http://yvesveggie.com

    http://sunshineburger.com

    http://rightfoods.com

    http://veganstore.com -they have chocolate!

    http://nakedjuice.com

    http://www.cedarsfoods.com/

    http://bolthouse.com

    http://naturespath.com

    http://turtlemountain.com

    http://fruitabu.com

    http://clifbar.com

    Here are some good recipes:

Stir fry- You need cut up tofu, soy sauce, olive oil, steamed veggies, and cooked rice

Get a frying pan and coat it with olive oil. The put the tofu in the pan and brown each side of it. Next, add the veggies. Add a little soy sauce and put in the rice. Mix everything up and then let it sit on the stove, occasionally stirring it to make sure it doesn't burn. After about a minute and a half of that put it in a bowl and enjoy!

Hummus- chick peas, lemon juice, paprika, cumin, black pepper, and any other spices/seasonings you like

Puree the chick peas. Then add a little lemon juice, paprika, pepper, and other spices. Then stir. Serve with a pita, with cucumbers, or on a veggie wrap.

Here are some snack and dinner suggestions:

    Snacks:

    Celery with peanut butter

    Apples with peanut butter

    Pita with hummus

    Raisins

    Amy's Apple Toaster Pops

    All natural popsicles

    Natural Valley bars

    Clif Bar

    Fruit Leather

    Silk Chocolate Soy Milk

    Naked Juice

    Apple chips

    Dinners:

    Tofu Stir Fry

    Amy's Pizzas

    Amy's entrees

Sandwiches made with Yves meatless deli slices

    Tofu Scramble

    Gardenburgers

    Natural Oven's bagels

Dr. McDougall's Soups and Noodle Soups

    Soy Cheese Quesedillas

    Veggie Wraps

Whole foods is a great store for vegetarians/vegans, so I recommend grocery shopping there. You also can get a lot of the things I listed above there.

  2. The best tip I can give at this point is Read. Read all of the sources that others presented above. Read about essential amino acids to create protein. Read about omega 3 and vitamin b12. Read the ingredients of every packaged food you decide to eat, if you don't plan on cooking. Otherwise, buy a cook book and prepare what you can when you can.

  3. Well it's sad that your family doesn't want to support you but here are a few website that have lots of information:

    http://veganteencuisine.blogspot.com/

    http://www.vegfamily.com/vegan-teens/ind...

    http://www.vegfamily.com/health/index.ht...

http://www.savvyvegetarian.com/vegetaria... (this website consider showing your folks)

  4. 1. Conviction: Know the ins and outs of why you are choosing to live such a lifestyle. Any confusing may diffuse your resolve in time. In general the three main reasons are Ethics, Environmental, and health. Research these three aspects.

    2. Live your life as a Testimony: If your parents, friends, and associates see that veganism has improved you for the better in attitude, health, and morality then they too will become more accepting of your choice and hopefully open to the lifestyle itself.

    3. Community: Make sure you have a support network to not only give you information but moral support and hopefully joy and well. : )

    4. Nutrition: Make sure you can meet (not meat) ; ) your nutritional needs. Do not fill up on junk foods like fries, twinkies, cookies, white breads, colas etc. Eat a lot of veggies and fruits a good portion of them raw. Incoporate brown rice and whole and sprouted wheats into your diet instead of the highly refined white versions. Also there are super foods like spirulina that are high in protein, B12, and iron. Quinoa is also great being a complete protein and rich in essential fatty acids. Just mix it in with your rice.

The health benefits of a vegan lifestlye are lower risks for heat diesease, diabetes, and many forms of cancer. Vegans also tend to be on average 10% lighter than there carnivore brethren making them less subject to obesity.

Best of wishes on your most compassionate new endevor : )

  5. my family was kind of the same way, you have to inform them about animal suffering and make some sacrifices.  Ive been vegan for a couple of months now, it was pretty hard at first, but youve got to ease into it, eliminate a few animal products a week

if your not already a vegetarian i would suggest becoming a lacto-ove (eats dairy and eggs), then either a lacto(dairy) or ovo (eggs) vegetarian next, then cut out the last few remaining animal products.  It really helped me when i eliminated them slowly

If they still dont support you, then if you are old enough i would suggest getting a job and paying for your own food; if you are not its going to be a bit harder(im in this situation)

I make my own meals, and if my famiy is having something that i want then i will help make myself a veganized version with the leftover ingredients. Most days I will just have a stir fry on rice or some sort of meat substitute.

I also have to go to the grocery store with my mum and pick out my own foods, you have to be careful that you are getting enough vitamins, escpially B vitamins, calcium, iron , and a few others are the big ones.

There are LOTS of health benefits including reduced chance for heart disease, cancer and many others.

I would suggest doing some research on your own heres a few websites that really helped me
