I have some extra baby rice cereal left over. My baby is too old for it now. Do you have any interesting recipes to bake with this item? Baby rice cereal flakes seem to have some interesting properties for holding moisture! I've heard of people baking with "potato flakes", so why not rice flakes?
Gluten question!
I've heard that the GLUTEN content helps allow flour rise with the baking soda/leavening agent. makes cakes fluffy,.. I've also heard that this is what some people (who are allergic to wheat) are allergic to the GLUTEN. I've heard that some of the faults of other flours is that they do not have this gluten, so they do not rise very well? Is this true? Do you know any good wheat flour substitutes?
Does this baby rice cereal have glutenous properties like ordinary baking wheat flour? I am curious. I see how the flakes absorb water. They also release that water if stored overnight in the refrigerator. My cousins have wheat allergies, so we are interested in "alternative" baking flours. I have heard of coconut flour. It has lots of fiber. How does that bake?
I'm vegan. I think some recipes are a little difficult to substitute the eggs out. I find that I loose some of the textures or it gets crumbly. I commonly substitute mixtures of tofu and/or applesauce for the egg. What do you use?
