Vegans, can you tell me if this is considered an animal product?

I want to know if bee pollen is considered an animal product. Bee pollen is edible and is high in vitamins, minerals and amino acids.

Can't you get bee pollen straight from the flowers?

That's a really good question and I'm not sure about the answer.

I drink soy protein shakes and one that I purchased a long time ago said that in contained bee pollen. I looked everywhere on the container and it didn't say that the product was vegan. I read all the ingredients over and over and I am thinking that was what kept the powder from being considered animal-free.

I cannot be sure, but that's just my guess.

I don't know if it fits the definition of "animal product," but if it's obtained from bee farming it's not vegan.

Pollen is from flowers but if it's bee pollen then how could it possibly be straight from flowers.

If it's rich in nutrition then eat it. I never heard of that. If your a strict vegan though  that would be sinful since bees are animal...oh boy....

It is not produced by the bees, so it is not an animal by-product.

there are many schools of thought on this one.  some folks feel that the making of the "door" to the hive so small that the bees occasionally loose their legs to be cruel.  Bees are insects - not animals

also hives that pollen is collected from - cannot have the honey collected, because the honey is effected by the bees being a bit angry cuz of small door , and the scraping of their legs, the quality of honey is not the same.  

as stated in answer b4 if you want straight pollen eating flowers is the best way - but it is not mixed with the bee stuff so it is diffrent in content.

personally i like royal jelly the best!
