  1. Last night I went out to a sushi restaurant.  I had miso soup and an avocado roll with soy paper.

I don't know what restaurants you go to, but most restaurants have vegan options.  I eat out several times a week and I never order salads (I don't really like salads except WITH my meal, not AS my meal).  We have several vegan restaurants within a half hour drive of us, too, so that helps.

  2. sadly, i just sit there. but that's probably not what you want to hear.

i'm also just picky about processed foods, gluten, and wheat.

  3. I prefer going to vegetarian restaurants, there's lots of tasty food for everyone.

But at mainstream restaurants, you can see what vegetarian options are on the menu, or ask the waiter if the chef will make something special for you. At worst, you can eat a salad.

  4. I'm not vegan, but my vegan friends eat falafels, chickpea and other bean salads, salads, veggie burgers and fries...there are plenty of options if you go to the right place.

  5. a salad with no cheese or croutons. but it's more fun to try vegan/vegetarian restaurants where there's a huge selection.

  6. I mostly go to restaurants that I know have a vegan option.  In a pinch, a baked potato and a green salad does the trick.  Most places have, at the least, a vegetarian dish and if you're lucky, it can be veganized easily.  If you find a place where there's nothing suitable, you just don't go back.

  7. Get a garden salad, there isn't much else that you can do.

  8. It depends so much on where you live. If you're somewhere with not a lot of vegans (say, outside of any major city or college town) then there are generally a few safe bets. I've survived when traveling on baked potatoes, steamed vegetables, salads (ask for oil and vinegar), avocado sandwiches, and the like. If you are in a big city or college town, and people know what vegan means, you can always ask your waitperson if they can make you something vegan.
