  1. Snow pea pod tips! Yummm!

  2. Why not ?there are plenty of options!

  3. restaurants?  you're kidding me?

if you eat there i highly question the veganism in yah.... process elements?  do you know what they do?

risks of having your dish cooked along with meat dishes and other meat /  animal products is too high.

  4. Hey how's your daughter doing? You were worried they were being brainwashed by vegans. Ever figure out where your 5 year old learned all of those adult level sayings? Interesting that you posted that question in P & S and not here in V & V:

Most Asian restaurants have a wide variety of foods and in the U.S., they include basic American foods. Quality may be in question but vegetarian offerings are available.

  5. Yes, there is steamed rice, vegetable stir fry and spring rolls but I would much rather stay home and prepare similar foods in a more simple and healthful manner. Please take note that Japanese restaurants use fish broth in many of their dishes. I only order raw vegan sushi; if anything at all.

Though my experiences have not been very pleasant, to say the least. I've had Chinese waiters roll their eyes at me when I asked if there were any vegan options available in the menu.

  6. Yes, usually Asian restaurants have a vegetarian section on the menu which are pretty much the same as vegan selections because traditional Asian foods don't use dairy.  BUT, you have to be careful because many Asian cuisines consider things like shrimp paste, oyster sauce, etc. to be vegetarian, so simply ask them not to include that.

Order veggie stir-fry, vegetable fried rice without egg, eggplant and tofu, garlic green beans, sauteed mushrooms,  lemongrass tofu, vegetable or tofu curry without ghee or shrimp paste, etc.

There are many options.  If you don't want to announce that you are vegan, try to tell them that you are allergic to seafood and egg and usually they will oblige.

Also be aware that some asian places season tofu with chicken fat (I made this mistake one time).

If you live in a large area, there are usually a few Buddhist vegan restaurants nearby.

Here's a link for you to check if there are any near you: http://www.happycow.net/

Just click on your continent, then country, then province or state, etc.

    Cheers

  7. Not really! Luckly there is a all Vegan chinese restaraunt near my house

  8. My initial reaction is, "You must be crazy."

Why?  Because Chinese and Asian food is packed full of vegan dishes.  You can go to literally any restaurant and find all sorts of vegan stuff on the menu.  In fact, nearly all Chinese restaurants have a Vegetarian section on their menu because there are so many vegetarian Chinese people out there.  "Vegetarian" in Chinese means 100%.  Vegan, that is.  In China, either you are vegetarian, or you are not.  Anyway, but this does not include MSG, or food colouring etc. and sometimes decorative egg.  So, make sure you say, "No MSG, no egg... and oh, no food colouring etc."  Around here they are pretty good and will say, "Oh, there's already MSG added to that sweet and sour sauce or lemon sauce, plus food colouring."

  9. Japanese, not very much. Chinese, more then Japanese. Thai, even more choices!

  10. yea...just substitute meat for tofu and make sure nothing you are eating has eggs or chicken broth in it. I eat out Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, and Chinese all the time, no problem at all. Its my favorite :]
