If you discovered that one of the ingredients in bread was diglyceride (might be animal-derived, might be vegetable...), would you contact the bread company to be sure?

  1. Anything with a word "diglyceride" seems unnatural and unhealthy. It seems like some kind of preservative. Being a vegan, try to stick to organic stuff. If I happened to come across an ingredient in that, I would probably not sweat it, and eat the bread. A day or two after I might call the company and kindly ask them about it.

  2. im not a vegan, but ima vegetarian. if i was id call.

  3. I usually avoid breads like that.  I wouldn't want to call them so I just buy the kinds I know are already vegan.

    Some Favorites:

    Ezekiel Bread (Food For Life)

    Rudy's Organics

    Alvarado Street Bakery

Also, many french, italian, and sourdough breads are vegan.  The best ones are those that have 5 ingredients or less.

  4. that's when i think it becomes ridiculous. when i was adhearing to a vegan diet, i never called myself "vegan" its such an identity with these people. its like vegan toothpaste, vegan underwear.. gimmie a break

  5. If I saw diglyceride on the list of ingredients I would conclude that it was more processed than things I choose to consume, and I wouldn't eat it.
