  1. i won't deny i like the taste of meat! not at  all.

but ethics and morals are more important to me, and i can have a veggie burger that tastes just as good and didn't come from an innocent animal suffering in pain and beign tortured for my food.

so it's got nothing to do wtih denying it.  sure some vegs gave up meat and dont' like the taste or didn't like the taste.  others liked the taste of meat but found other things about their food to be more important.

  2. Depends on their reasons for being vegetarian. Some don't like meat so they don't eat it.  Others like it but refuse to eat it for some reason.

  3. idk i mean some do it because  theyre a llergic and say hey im vegan or they hate meat and do the same things but then others actually think its bad and are true vegans

when the world is filled with secret and lies where is the truth?

  4. Yes, lots of vegans like the taste of meat but we don't see taste as a good enough reason for making something live a miserable life and then killing it. Taste only lasts a few seconds and then is soon forgotton... It doesn't create true happiness so why cause so much misery to produce it?

Plus there are great meat alternatives on the market which involve no cruelty. My local vegan chinese is just as good if not better than meat selling ones and I have meat eating family and friends who can confirm that.

  5. Veganism is the new Puritanism. This is my belief. It is also one of my arguments against vegetarianism, and although it may at first seem a flippant argument, I believe that it is very powerful. Veganism is miserable. It attacks one of life’s greatest and surest pleasures - enjoying good food. Anything which makes people less happy is bad.

  6. Who cares whether or not they like it?  Each person gives it up for a reason of their own.  Sometimes that reason is taste, most often it's something else like ethics.

I liked meat when I was a meat eater.  Twenty-one years later, it's irrelevant that I once liked meat.  I didn't want to eat it anymore, so I stopped and now I no longer even know what it tastes like, which is fine with me.

  7. I'm vegan and I used to love ham, pastrami, corned beef....

I'm vegan because I do not believe it is right to treat animals like machines, not because I think meat tastes gross.

"Yummy" is not a valid reason to contribute to incredible suffering.

  8. I'm a vegetarian and I love the taste of meat.......

I'm a vegetarian for ethical and religious reasons, which in my opinion trump my palate.  most people aren't vegetarians or vegans because they don't like the taste of meat....they're veg because they don't like the cruelty involved or because they're doing it for their health.

if vegetarians and vegans didn't like the taste of meat (back when they ate it) boca burgers wouldn't exist.

  9. I'm sure a lot of vegetariens love meat, but feel bad for the animals so they sacrifice it. You don't think it's as easy as saying, "I don't like meat so I won't eat it." taste has nothing to do with it.

  10. duh everyone likes the taste of it, cuz its so dang tasty!! its just they are so stubborn and thing they are changing the world and 'saving' animals by not eating it. but w.e their loss.

  11. I used to.  But my body can no longer digest animal flesh, and I see no reason to eat the bodies of animals when I can get tasty substitutes that don't harm anyone.

There are lots of analogues out there, and they exist for a reason:  We like the taste, we hate the cruelty.

  12. Sure, why not?  There are diabetics who like sugary foods and abstain from them, and ex-smokers who like cigarettes, so why wouldn't there be veg*ns who like the taste of meat?

I didn't go vegan because I didn't like the taste of meat.  I went vegan because I didn't think the taste of meat was justification for the slavery, mutilation, exploitation and slaughter of animals in order to obtain meat.  It's about whether the habit is worth the cost.  (That said, I can't stand the smell or sight of meat anymore, so I don't think I'd enjoy the taste of it if I did ever eat it again.  Furthermore, I don't miss it.)

I like smoking too, but I don't smoke anymore because it's bad for me.  Now that I don't smoke, I don't miss it.

    No mystery here.

  13. That's like asking if priests/nuns like having s*x but just deny it.

It's what it means/represents that makes it unappealing.

I use to love how it tasted, but the thought of eating it now just ruins my appetite.

scottdiesel1, you need help. And why are you even on this board anyways?

  14. im a vegetarian and i HATE d taste of meat!! it makes me gag...! i tried loooking at a sausage b4 and nearly got sick cause it was splurging with fat! ewww....!!!
