Question:

Vegas. Wedding. Now what?

We have no idea exactly what we want but we know there is no chance we're having the 'traditional' wedding. We're a "jeans and a t-shirt" people and that's the plan for the wedding. At least that kind of laid-back style is what we want but the PROBLEM is: We don't know what we want or how to pull off what we're talking about.

Even the afterparty-type-thing is a problem. We were talking about renting a suite/room/whatever and having private table games (poker, roulette, blackjack) and food available. We want music but not a band. Do we have to have dancing? Does this type of party fit into a wedding thing or does it sound too bar-mitzvah?

One more thing; We'd like to have the wedding "in nature". Again, whatever that means. I was thinking something like Hoover Dam or on a rock in Red Rock Park or something. Hey if there the Belliago can do it, wonderful. Again, do we do it in the pool? I like on a mountainside too. Trees, etc. Beautiful but nothing ridiculous like other weddings.

No walking down the aisle stuff. How about a wedding on the beach at the Hard Rock? I don't know. She has no idea. Help help

How about having the ceremony in the middle of the party? You know how people announce that the floor is now open for dancing? Well, "Everybody stop gambling for a minute and come watch this"

Does any of this sound like something you would go to?

We really need help. I'm opening a dialogue here.

Thanks

- B

  1. I completely understand what you mean.

We originally thought of Vegas too, as neither one of us likes to be the center of attention, and we think spending $500 on a cake is ridiculous. So, he mentioned he heard of couples renting helicopters and having heli-weddings out in the Grand Canyon (we just came from holidays there).  As I am from the rockies in Canada, this is perfect- going up to the middle of nowhere, just us, a chaplain who doubles as a pilot, and a photographer.  I'll still have a dress (no big poofy ones thanks)- and our pics will be fantastic- its also a practical solution to getting two spread out families together.

Check into heli-weddings. You can pretty much go wherever you want.

As far as the reception we're having two separate dinners in different locations. Nothing big and extravagant, more like a rent-a room for 10 at nice restaurants and don't mention the W-word when booking to avoid high fees. :)

As far as in the middle of a party- I wouldn't do that- my sister did that, and people seemed to remember the party, not the wedding. I dont know, just didnt really seem to define it.

Not everyone wants a traditional wedding.... I hope you have an unforgettable day.
