  1. environmental reasons:  it takes a lot of fuel, stock feed and water to raise one pound of meat.

Not as much resources needed to grow one pound of corn, wheat, soy etc...

You are helping to save the forest.  Farmers have to clear forest trees (this is true in Brazil) to make room for cattle ranches.

Cattle ranches are big polluters!, imagine hundreds of cattle taking a dump in the same place, that cattle dong pollutes the ground and that pollution ends up polluting the water underground which gets pump for everyone to consume.

It is healthier:  In order animals to survive nasty living conditions (cattle live in constricted spaces where they defecate and urinate) they have to be pump with antibiotics so they don't get sick.  They also get pump with hormones so they grow fast and plum to yield more meat.  The meds become part of the animal that you eat and consume!

Eating vegetables provides you with vitamins, minerals, fiber that you can't get from meat.  In fact eating too much meat can lead to many health problems, such as high cholesterol, intestinal problems etc.

Did you know the taste of meat on a hamburger is the taste of urine, blood, meds etc of the animal?

There are many more reason you can find on pro vegetarian web sites.  This are only the few I can remember.

    Good luck.

  2. Abuse of animals on factory farms, dangerous hormones, steroids, and diseases in factory farm animals, and the general nastiness of eating abused and drugged up, possible diseased animal flesh.

It can help you lose weight if you do it properly.

  3. I personally went vegetarian because I love animals too much to eat meat or cause any harm to an animal. It's why I've dedicated my life to helping animals. I'm glad I did it's one of the best decisions I have ever made. Everyone has their reason's and they're all going to be different and I respect everyone's choices.

  4. good morning dear friend.. non other reason for turn to vegitarian. it may cheaper then the non-veg. our pioneers those who create castesum they planed to sheperate their own peoples from others. so instruct to the people to eat veg.

it also good for health and your memory.

  5. eating vegie's and not meat and drinkin drinks

    and  ah  low fat stuff

  6. An ethical reason like factory farming is a common one.  Usually, you will lose quite a bit of weight if you switch to a vegetarian diet!!  We eat things like veggie burgers, seitan, and tofu.  I mostly live off of whole grains, because they give me my carbs and protein at once, which means less calories!  Yay!!

  7. factory farming causes the most pollution of any other industry. thats a good reason to make the transformation. vegetarians eat anything but meat. that simple. when i turned vegan, i lost 15 pounds in the first week, not that that's healthy or anything. as long as you're eating healthy, you'll probably loose a little weight.

  8. I've been vegetarian since before I can even remember. It didn't keep my weight down. Eating lots of Rice, pasta, bread, and breakfast cereal isn't exactly a good strategy for weight control. Until recently I probably didn't eat any more vegetables than a meat-eater. Perhaps a bit more beans than a meat-eater. That's about it.

I am still pretty much vegetarian but now I'm trying to eat a lot more protein, fiber, and vegetables. Actually it's working, so far. My ratios are pretty close to the Zone right now (40% carbs, 30% fat, 30% protein).

So whether you are a vegetarian or a meat-eater, you still have to put effort into eating right.

  9. good reasons wud b if u r sick n tired of meat or if u r an animal lover. sum do it for health purpose( those who have cholestrol related prob for instance) .yes it mite make u lose weight. i know sum who did not lose weight. however if u decide 2 b a vegan, then my advice wud b 2 take certain supplements. cuz ur body needs certain nutrients which comes from meat ( eg: protein and omega from fish) . i believe being a vegan means ur body wil b lacking in quality protein. u can consume soya for protein but soya taken on a long term basis or in big amounts may not be good for the body. for sum being a vegan, makes them very weak, my aunt for example. vegan eats loads of vege(obviuosly ;-) ), fresh fruits, soy based products ( vegetarian chick, vegetarian fish, vegetarian anchovies, vegetarian mutton etc), dairy products, fruit juices, tofu n da list goes on.

  10. The reasons to become a vegetarian are cruelty of animals, diseases, heart attacks, and dairy and meat make you fat... lol... if you want to know more go to peta2.com... join the street dream and also there is a lot of videos that show how animals are treated...

  11. i have done my fair share of research and the best reason to turn vegitarian is because the way animals are slaughtered today is absolutely disgusting, ofcourse it isnt openly discussed but it is cheaper to kill animals in inhumane ways, who are we the human race to do this to other living creatures? go to www.peta.org thats got alot of good information im not gonna list all the disgusting ways animals are killed because firstly you probably wont believe it and secondly ide vomit just thinking about it but you can find videos like search meet your meat on youtube and watch that

im not one of those vegitarians that goes on about it and hates everyone who eats meat but i think people should know what they are putting in there mouths and if they dont want to know well then thats just a form of blind acceptance

also, meat transportation etc is one of the biggest contributing factors to global warming

If you consume less calories than you burn, you will lose weight. If you consume more calories than you burn, you will gain weight. It doesn't matter if you are a vegetarian, omnivore or cannibal.
