Question:

Vegetarian Cravings?

I've been a vegetarian for almost 4 years now, and have never had any cravings. Recently I was put on a strict diet by a natural path, because of health issues.

No sugar, wheat, soy, corn, or potatoes (which was pretty much my diet)

and I have food intolerance's to garlic, pepper, chili, onions, dairy and egg whites.

As a result I don't really have that much to eat, and nothing that is any good. (I'm also very picky) I've started to crave meat, chicken mostly.

Any suggestions?

  1. You can get fake meats like chiken b*****s.....sausages....ham ....bacon....etc....

  2. I'm part vegetarian.  That is to say that I mostly eat veggies, but have the occasional meat (usually fish or chicken).  For chicken, I'd recommend El Pollo Loco.  I've written an article about this type of cooking.

  3. your body's trying to tell you something. go see a nutritionist, they know the best. i'm allergic to wheat, i'm lactose intolerant and can't digest foods that have too much protein in them, but i still eat bread and cereal eventhough they mess my stomach up sometimes. obviosly i don't eat foods i can't digest well often but i still eat them because my body's telling me to. i eat chicken honestly like twice a year when i crave it, fish more often, never read meat. but if i were you i would go see a nutritionist or just plain eat some chicken.

  4. Try boca burgers. They are better then hamburgers :] They also make mock chicken patties. You probably wouldn't even know the difference.

  5. Gluten Free Grains are still in your ball park. Brown Rice, Millet, Quinoa which has amazing amounts of protein -- all of the essential amino acids are present! Legumes and beans are still available to you. All of the veggies and fruits and nuts. You can sweeten things like herbal teas with Stevia or Agave and bake with Sorghum Flour. Coconut Flour, Flax Meal, Almond Meal, Kamut flour.. Olive oil, Sesame Oil, Vegan Almond Cheese -- don't give up on yourself there is a whole lot of good food available to you you will simply need to do some further explorations and research. Living Without is an excellent resource for the food challenged.  Good Luck and keep the faith -- all is not lost..

  6. Rice dishes, bean dishes, wheat-free pasta, stir fry (vegetables and tofu), soups, salads, veggie burgers made with beans, zucchini fries, baked tofu.

  7. yes deffinately mock meat, they have fake meat @ most grocery stores like albertsons, ralphs but also theres a TON of vegan meat & other foods @ Lassens. P.S. in a vegetarian also

  8. I would say mock meats, but most of that is made of wheat or soy. Try to find some mock chicken that doesn't contain any of the ingredients that you aren't able to eat. I'm sure it exists. I can't reccomend eating any meat and I don't think thats what you want to do either. Good luck :)
