Vegetarian Foods to Bring to School?

Ok. I am now a junior in high school. And I became a vegetarian about, um, 2 weeks ago. And I really would like some help in what to bring to school for snacks, lunches, and maybe some more lunches.

I am an athlete. I play varsity water polo, and I am on JV swim. My stroke is the Butterfly.

And I need to bring more snacks than the average person does because I ride the bus for two hours, go to school from 730 to 230. Then have practice till 5 ish. I don't get home till 7 ish.

I haven't tried tofu, but I am willing to.

  1. For lunch: Sandwiches like PB and J/etc or tofurkey or lightlife deli slices with tomato and hummus or vegan mayo, cold pasta, mini salad, quinoa or couscous and beans, vegan chili, soup, stir-fry, roll-ups/wraps, vegan tuna or potato salad, vegetables with rice.

For snack: Dried fruits, nuts, vegetables, fruits, applesauce, hard and soft pretzels, homemade chips (potato, kale, tortilla, corn, banana, pita, etc), seeds (sunflower, pumpkin), vegan cookies, homemade bars (like the recipes I gave you in another answer), vegan muffins, vegan brownies, crackers, breads, beans, peanut butter and...(w/e you like), fires, plantin, trail mix, luna bar.

  3. I am not really big on tofu. Something about the texture.

Anyways, I don't know about you but I am always in a hurry in the mornings and I don't want something that will take more than five minutes. XD

So here are a few things I have found that are good:

tomato sandwich- toast two pieces of bread and put miracle whip and a little pepper on it then add a few slices of tomato.

soup- just take a can of soup and throw it in a Thermos and you can warm it up at school

berrapple peanut butter wrap- take a tortilla and put peanut butter on it then apple slices and some blackberries with a little honey drizzled on top and make it into a wrap

    snacks:

celery with peanut butter or cream cheese

an apple or banana or whatever

snap peas [mm mm my fave]

frozen peanut butter balls- take a scoop of peanut butter and make it into a ball inside of a small piece of wax paper or serran wrap or whatever and freeze it over night. they are great for little protein boosts. I love them. you can also take something a jab a nice size hole in the middle and drizzle chocolate in before freezing.

  4. Have you tried beans in a thermos?  You might want to try a vegetable stew.
