I have a gluten intolerance and have recently decided to go veggo (not vegan though). I have researched essential amino acids ect and I know of some grains such as quinoa which contain all of these. However I was wondering if anybody with the same circumtances has any tips. Thanks :P

  1. You may want to look at http://www.celiac.org/ and http://www.celiac.com/ to help you find grains and products that are safe. You also may want to talk to a dietitian or nutritionist to make sure you are going to be able to maintain a healthy diet. Most pre-made veggie products (e.g. frozen meat replacements) do contain gluten.

  2. most veggie burgers and things are gluten free.

and there are amino acids in every fruit and vegetable until they are cooked.

if you want some really good recipes, u can buy this brand of TVP(textured vegetable protein) at food lion and healthfood stores

    its just soy protein

heres the link to the website

  3. No, most veggie burgers ARE NOT gluten free. A lot of vegetarian meat alternatives have wheat in them even as the first ingredient. My sister is gluten intolerant and she found gluten free veggie burgers go to http://sunshineburger.com/ they're pretty good--not meant to taste like meat, but vegetables.

  4. Floradix. I'm pretty sure its gluten free and its got a lot of iron in it which some vegetarians lack. I'm a vegetarian and i take this.

  5. check out kinnikinnik (not sure if it's spelled right) breads and foods. they make gluten free bread, pizza crusts, pretzels, brownies + cookies........and the best part is that they don't taste much different from the real stuff!!

    good luck

    =]

  6. Try Orgran foods all there foods are

    Gluten free

    Wheat free

    Dairy free

    Egg free

    Yeast free

    Soy free

GMO free(don't know what that means)

    Nut free

    Vegan

    their website is www.orgran.com

  7. i've been vegetarian for a few years now and was just recently diagnosed with celiacs. it's really not as difficult as it seems to follow a gluten free/ vegetarian diet.

here are some things i eat 1-2 (sometimes more) times a week:

+quinoa (actually very good in soups)

    +potatoes (baked or grilled)

+rice (brown rice has more nutrients than white)

    +egg whites

    +corn tortillas

the b***h of it is mostly eating out, because of the cross contamination, etc, as you probably know.

    and eating salad gets old.

homemade soups are really good too, esp. like i said with quinoa or rice

i don't know who published it but there's a book i once saw called The Gluten Free Vegan... look it up on amazon, maybe it will help you.

    Good luck!
