  1. Not without completely changing the flavour.  Either that or lots of chemicals, fake beef and oyster flavourings.  Stick to the soy sauce based sauces.  Black bean sause could probably be made without meat broth without making something completely diferent.

  2. Since its probably only soy sauce and potato flour it is vegetarian.   Ask the restaurant how they make their brown sauce.

  3. Yes..I have a recipe and it's tastes pretty much the same.  We use it over broccoli florets.

3/4 cup un-chicken broth (I used Imagine Brand)

1 Tspn dark soy sauce (I used Bragg's liquid aminos)

    1/2 tspn sugar

    1 TBSP Cornstarch

Minced garlic to taste (I use the jarred kind)

    Instructions:

    --------------------------------------...

Combine ingredients in order and bring to a boil. Makes about 1/3

    cup sauce.

  4. Yes, using mushrooms as the base.
