  1. My daughter turned veggie at 7 when she realised that we were eating animals, which she loves.

Check the freezer section of your suprmarket, there are loads of veggie alternatives to meat. Try the Quorn range, and the Asda/Tesco own brand stuff is great too.

My daughter (now 18) loves the Quorn Southern Fried Burgers, Garlic and herb Fillets, and Asda Glamorgan Sausages.

Colourful Rainbow (above) is right, meat eaters will also enjoy a lot of the veggie alternatives as they're really tasty, not bland like the old perception of veggie food.

  2. You will LEARN FROM THIS man!

  3. feed her a fcking lamb and a bunny and chicken and all meat she is ignorant and is too yong to now ****

  4. You might want to talk to the girl and her parents to see what she likes.  Most pizza places have rennetless cheese, and you can order a pizza with tons of veggie toppings.  Or better yet, make your own.  Whole wheat spaghetti with marinara sauce is another good option, but make sure there's no meat in the sauce.  Amy's makes tons of convenience foods, including pasta sauces, and they're all vegetarian.  You can also make a stir fry with vegetarian meal starter strips (if you don't feel confident enough to use tofu).  If you use stir-fry sauce, make sure there's no fish in it.

Also check www.vegweb.com.  I see they have a section for food kids will like.

  5. mash potato.

    or seizling tofu

    veg.. fried rice

    vegetarian chicken....

  6. veggie burgers, either boca or morningstar are pretty good, you can ask her which type she eats perhaps there is another brand where you are.

or make pasta when she comes over  in a non meat sauce.

  7. Baked jacket potato with a vegetarian filling (i.e.)

    Mushrooms

    Avocado

    Baked Beans

    Mashed Sweet Potato

    Salsa

    Mexican

    Chili Con Carne

    Onion

    Pizza Sauce

    Curry

Fancy Cheese - Brie, Camembert or Stilton

    Grated Cheddar Cheese

    Cottage Cheese

    Tomato

The list of possible ingredients is endless.

Even a plain jacket potato just served with just a butter and cheese filling is very yummy and filling.

Potatoes are very cheap, so this meal is very good value for money - great for the whole family.

I eat a vegan version with the filling consisting of mashed avocado, grated brussels sprouts and mushrooms, sauteed in a little caramalised balsamic vinegar and white wine.

Serve the same dish for your non-vegetarian child and just add chopped meat (ham or chicken) if wanted.

    Tips:

    Chose a large potato.

King Edward and Desiree are particularly good.

Some recipes suggest using an older potato, as it produces a better "jacket" skin

    Method:

    1. Preheat the oven to 200C /400F/ Gas 6.

    2. Leave the skin on and wash the potatoes well.

    3. Pat them dry with a paper towel or tea towel

    4. Prick each potato several times with a fork.

    5. Pour some olive oil into your hands and rub over the potatoes, then scatter over some sea salt, which should stick to the oil.

    6. Place directly on the shelf in the oven and bake for a good 1½ - 2 hours, depending on the size of the potato.

When cooked, the potato should be golden / crispy on the outside and soft / fluffy on the inside (and give a little when squeezed).

Split open and serve with any type of filling that takes your fancy.

There is also a yummy version where you scope out the hot potato and mash it up with your chosen filling. You then shove everything back inside the skin and then top with grated cheese which you melt under the grill for a minute or two.

Don’t microwave the potato because they end up tasting awful – cooking in the oven or on a camp fire is the only way

  8. I'm 14 and have been vegetarian for 3 years now. When I go over my friends houses, I am usually happy just eating pizza and chips (which is what I usually get). However, make sure the pizza has vegetarian cheese - i.e. no rennet. Most pizza's don't anyway now-a-days.

Alternatively, you could buy some quorn mince - cook it the same as you would with real mince (fry it) and make a nice shepherds pie - vegetarian style!

You could also buy veggie burgers, "chicken" style pieces and many more "meat" products. Plus, your whole family can eat them - I bet you won't be able to tell the difference!

Try a vegetarian meal and feed the whole family in one go - or just go with the easy pizza, it's up to you! :)

  9. noodlse

    rice

    pasta

    mash

    fried rice

    gobi

  10. A roast dinner always goes down well when there's vegetarians as well as "meat-eaters" for dinner. Assuming the girl likes vegetables then do her lots of potato, carrot, broccoli, pumpkin, roasted tomato, etc. And then you can also do a meat on a separate tray for everybody else to have as well as their vegetables.

Also a vegetable curry or stirfry is really quick and easy. Tofu is great if cooked properly for vegetarians and others alike.

Home made pizzas are great because you can do a half and half so each girl will get to choose their own toppings.

There are heaps of vegetarian recipe sites if you do a bit of googling :) All I can suggest is to try and refrain from cooking her something completely separate from everybody else. (Two different variations of the same dish is okay) You don't want to risk making her feel like an outcast or an inconvenience.

  11. I'm a vegetairan too and I usually eat tofu, veggie burgers, or salad type things... but you can check this place out

  12. what's easiest to do is to go to a local food market and buy a frozen package of something meatless like soy nuggets, veggie burgers or something of the sort. you just put it in the toaster oven and its cooks quick and im guessing you normally makes veggies for a side or something and she could have that with it. when you know shes coming over you could just pull the box out and make some. also you could order pizza that night, chinese, make mac & cheese, grilled cheese, a pasta dish or mexican food. Its actually pretty simple =)

  14. If you go to the freezer at your local grocery store there is a whole section of frozen meatless foods that taste very good. Brands like "Boca", "Morning Star Farm", and "Garden Burger" all make meatless and healthy foods.

  15. Go to the grocery store and get some ground tofu

Taco seasoning and everything you put in the taco

    lettuce

    tomato

    cheese

    salsa

    Make it a taco night.

Use two packets of seasoning and your daughter wont know the diffrence.

  16. Quorn products - I love Quorn sausages!

    Mash potatoe

    Veggie fingers/burgers

    Baked beans, spaghetti hoops

    Pasta

    Rice

    Noodles

    Cheesey things

    :-)

  17. Theres not much more I can add that already hasnt been said, but I will say this-BE CAREFUL! A lot of the suggestions that people have made are high in fat content, or food that is high in starch and other natural sugars that store as fat in the human body, like pizza, potatoes, mexican food in general....One of the biggest things that vegetarians miss out on is protein, so try to encourage healthy eating habits and a well balanced vegetarian diet. It doesn't have to be extreme, its as simple as choosing black beans over refried beans, although that may be a problem for a ten year old. It may defeat the purpose of becomming healthier, if she isn't replacing essential nutirents with the ones she's missing out on.

    :)

  18. pasta, friut pies, cheese and onion mash.

  19. Pasta and pizza are kids favorites and easy to make vegetarian. That is if the kid eats dairy.

I would call her parents and ask them. This not only saves you from making mistakes but also to get an idea of what the child eats. She could  be a picky eater and may refuse something even if it is vegetarian.

Just make sure the kids, yours and her friend eat the same food so no one feels left out.

  20. Really! Cooking vegetarian is not difficult at all. Just think of what you cook your own daughter minus the meat.

Here's a link to the 'vegetarian society kid's page' website. There's a list of easy vegetarian recipes.

One of my favourites when I was younger was the 'quick pizza'. Really easy and good fun to make. The kids could get involved in making it themselves :) V V V V

  22. You can make almost anything!

Nachos with a bean or tomato salsa

    Macaroni Cheese

    Potato bake or Vege Bake.

You can even make hot dogs! Check out your local supermarket. They have a few vegetarian sausage options. I feed them to my non vegetarian friends and no one has noticed the difference yet.

Vege stir fries, fried rice, spagetti with fake 'mince' (also found at your local supermarket and again- no one has ever noticed the difference with me)

If you need more ideas just have a look at some cooking webpages. the possibilities are endless! If you want to go all out you can even find places that make whole fake 'chickens' and 'roasts', lol.
