Question:

Vegetarian cookbooks?

I'm looking for some good vegetarian cookbooks. I like mostly simple things, not recipes that are trying too hard and use 20 different ingredients to make spicy, zesty, flashy dishes. I prefer simple flavor made with items I can get at my normal grocery store.

If anyone has ideas I'd appreciate the title and author.

Thanks very much.

  1. Any of the Moosewood cookbooks.  I have The Moosewood Restaurant Cooks at Home, which has pretty simple weekday dishes.  They also have one called Moosewood Restaurant Simple Suppers, but I haven't read that one.

Moosewood Restaurant has been cooking and serving vegetarian food for about 30 years now, and their cookbooks are a joy to read and the recipes are delicious.

Another old, good standby is Mollie Katzen's (she's a Moosewood alum) The Enchanted Broccoli Forrest...good recipes and fun to read.

And if you can find a copy (Amazon Marketplace have them used, I think it's out of print), I love The World Famous Ratner's Meatless Cookbook from Ratner's Deli in NY.

  2. I put my over 500 recipes with picture in the blogs that is easy and simple to whip up, but it is more on Asian, if you don't mind, pop over to have a look :-
