  1. check out 101cookbooks.com

so good even meat eaters mite wanna eat it =)

  2. I know how you feel; I'm a vege too, i go to family barbeque's every Sunday as a tradition, so normally we just take corn, or some pre-cooked meal for me. Or at a party u can have any kind of pasta with out the meat, chips and dip, vege/cheese pizza, mashed potatos, etc.

  3. Is there really meat in everything you serve? O_O

Chips and dip are good, like tortilla chips and guacamole.

Make bean chili and have people sprinkle cheese over it and eat it with cornbread.

If you grill up burgers throw on a veggie burger before you put the meat on and serve her a veggie burger.

Make a really good salad, with tons of greens and a choice of dressing, maybe even a salad buffet with different toppings in tupperware (grape tomatoes, cheese varieties, croutons, sliced cucumbers, bell pepper strips, etc). Everyone can make their own. If there must be meat have it seperate and people can top their salad with chicken strips or whatever.

Make rice and beans (jambalaya or dirty rice) - black beans, rice, chipotle or southern seasonings, veggies... it can be a side or a full meal; I eat it as a meal since you really don't need anything else, it's a complete protein and it's just packing on fat and calories to pile food on top of it in the end.

Maybe try your hand at stir fry - just buy a packaged frozen stir-fry veggie mix, which has all the typical stuff you need, and toss it into a wok with soy sauce and stir fry sauce from the store if you aren't a gourmand yourself - just check the ingredients of the sauce to make sure there's no fish sauce like anchovy paste, since that's non-veg. Serve over rice, maybe even add in one tray of extra firm tofu, drain the water and cube the tofu in once the sauce is ready and let it simmer, it'll absorb the flavor and go from plain to fabulous just like chicken breast would. Maybe buy mock chicken strips that are vegan (Morningstar brand is available in the freezer section in EVERY store I've been to that's bigger than a mom and pop or ethnic store).

Desert should at least be vegetarian, though I've seen some weird stuff in my life time. The only culprit that might not be vegetarian is gelatin - like in Jello - since it's made from slaughterhouse waste, pretty much, just the nasty leftover bits like ligaments and bones.

Maybe cheesecake, or a pie, I don't know. You can try baking yourself if you're worried about ingredients.

BAKED POTATOES! Just bake potatoes in their jacket (skin/peel, whatever you call it). Split them down the middle before serving and serve them with chose of topping - the meat-eaters can have their bacon, the vegetarians can have cheese, sour cream, chives, BBQ sauce, etc.

And marinara sauce, plain old tomato sauce, with whole wheat pasta is great. Any type of pasta, though penne or bowtie works best. Have a veggie meatball side (you can buy vegetarian meat-ball like thingies, it's about four dollars for a big bag at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods). Or just serve meatballs seperately and the vegetarians can have marinara and pasta and the meatballs can be added on later by those that want it.

  4. You might ask her if she would like to bring something or you could ask her for a recipe of something she likes. usually people with special diets don't like attention called to them and eat before they go. there are so many good cheeses, but you don't know what she includes or excludes.

  5. baked ziti, stuffed shells, salads, garlic bread, but i also know some vegetarians cant eat cheese, so how about asking her what  is her favorit  foods....  and then wright it down then at the next function  you could have some of her favorit foods there ....good luck.....
