  1. The above answers are all good. You just can't become a vegetarian overnight after being a meat eater all your life. But your wish to be a vegetarian must be applauded - in a hundred years from now, a large population of the world will be vegetarian.

First reduce the frequency of eating meat, for example, keep one meal in a day meat free, and then increase it to two etc. At the same time, replace meat with meat substitutes - there are plenty of non meat steaks and stuff in the markets these days.

Also, start learning how to cook vegetarian dishes and start eating more raw foods.

You must also read up on vegetarianism if you want to avoid some of the pitfalls of being a vegetarian.

All these methods will combine to break your dependence on meat. As soon as you start becoming more and more a vegetarian, you will instantly feel the benefits. You will become a much healthier person, and you will be contributing greatly to a cleaner environment.

Best of luck. I wish you success.

  2. try substituting mushrooms for your meat, just season them like you would beef , chicken, or pork. they even make  a great sandwich

  3. You don't have to quit eating meat if you don't want.  It's a belief, not a right of passage.  Eat more veggies and slowly wean the meat products down to where you just don't eat them.  It takes a lot of work to be a full vegan.  You have to know your products and be willing to work hard on what you believe.  Try just being a vegetarian first.  It's not so strict.

Was, can't.  Still push the veggies, tho.  My body didn't like being "protein free" cuz I didn't do it right.  Back in 1986, it was hard to find protein in a non meat form.  Boca burgers didn't exist back then.

  4. Go veg when you feel ready. Crazy Horse, it is not hard for vegetarians to get protein. Being vegetarian doesn't make you lack protein. It's found in nuts, tofu, beans etc.
