  1. here's a fake meat recipe:

Canned pumpkin, mix in it oatmeal, wheatgerm and  soya sauce to taste,

Add in seasoning salt or barbeque seasoning and mix well..  result you have fake hamburger meat..   you can make meatless loaf, or meatless burgers,  meatless meatballs.   Why it tastes close to the real thing is because it is cooked in oil!

When you make meatless meatballs for spaghetti  it is best to dip them in oil before you cook them with the spaghetti!

  2. It's just the seasoning.

  3. I think it's 90% psychological, like giving someone a sugar pill. Soy is a complete protein like meat protein so the taste is a bit simular.

  4. Plant meats are naturally tasting that way, with spices, preparation, and certain mixtures you can get them to taste exactly like animal meat without the nauseating, sick or dead factor.

  5. It's something, itsn't it?! When you think about how they all started as soy protein and are then turned into tasty foods.

I think it's all about the seasoning and liquid smoke. That stuff is amazing.

    :-)

  6. They add a lot of spices. I found that meat without spices are very bland.

  7. its artificial!! well scientists can do anything these days

  8. Probably all the artificial products that they dump in there.  And you call that a healthy lifestyle?

  9. Get the Morning Star brand.  The sausage patties, links, crumbles, etc. taste delicious and a lot like meat...they are really flavorful!

Of course, you can also put herbs, pepper, mustard, and those other flavorings

  10. They don't. They don't taste like meat at all. I'm guessing it's a placebo effect for you.

  11. They use beef/pork/chicken bullion cubes for flavorings.

  12. really good spices.... lol i dunno maybe they use some of the same things they use to marinate meat? like worcestershire sauce

  13. try seitan and tempeh. you can ground both of them so they can have the same texture as ground beef. they have more of a meat texture to them

  14. It's all about the seasoning.  After all, omnivores aren't going to eat animal flesh that hasn't been seasoned and cooked, right?  It's a matter of texturizing the plant protein and adding the right seasonings.

  15. The only one that I thought was truly, really really accurate was this vegan pepperoni I tried. Kinda freaky.
