  1. lentils! they're great. You can make veggie burgers, fake sausage, majadrha, all kinds of stuff super-cheap with lentils. Onions, frozen veggies, rice. Eggs, if you eat those. A big jar of peanut butter. Maybe some Bisquick or something like that to make biscuits and pancakes.

  2. Quite difficult to do.  Whole foods(wild oats) is great but very expensive.  I'd go with frozen veggie burgers and that stuff.

  3. Try to go to an Aldi or buy store brands of some of the following (your budget is limiting, but not impossible).  Also check your local grocery sale ads and buy what's on sale.

    peanut butter & jelly

ramen (look for vegetarian flavors and check to make sure they truly are vegetarian)

frozen veggies as side dishes or to add to your pasta or ramen or as stir fries

    canned veggies

    fresh onions & potatoes!

    fresh produce that's on sale

    rice

    cous cous

    TVP (buy in bulk)

    macaroni & cheese

    tofu

We buy bread from a local bakery thrift store.

You won't be eating "health food" at $50 a month--but you CAN survive--I have survived on less!

  4. frozen veggies. you can get on sale pretty cheap. peanut butter and whole wheat bread. pack of tofu. nuts. rice. bananas.

  5. rice, frozen veggies and dried beans.

  6. I'd suggest buying beans, rice, and other basic staples. Don't buy brand name, meat replacers, dairy and eggs, etc.

Beans and Rice, non-instant oatmeal, burritos, soup, Top Ramen (Oriental flavor is Vegan)- these are good idea when you are on a budget.

  7. dont eat as much

  8. Beans, store brand frozen veggies, whole wheat pasta

  9. Luckily vegetarian food is way cheaper than meat! I suggest buying rice and pasta- very cheap and low in fat! And buy lentils (really really cheap!) and make lentil rice, and dahl. Lots of protein and iron. Buy whatever vegetables are in season wherever you are and make soups. Check out indian recipe websites, they have awesome veg food. And make your own tomato based pasta sauce, a can of tomatoes is less than a dollar.
